Not Again! London bombings redux!
The bombings or incidents or whatever they're called are back. The news media speculators are back. At least no one was killed this time. I guess the TV has to fill the screen, but it seems this constant coverage when there is nothing specific to cover just makes people even more edgy. Or maybe it makes them angry at the commentators, which is better than edgy about terror. At least ABC just went back to regular programming once it was clear there was no information and it appeared the worst was over. I assume they can break in to regular programming if something happens or information is forthcoming. Some of the comments of the news people are just too annoying for words. One suggesting that the entire London system be shut down. Another suggesting suprise that this could happen when everyone is on alert. I'm sure they'll be looking for who allowed it to happen soon. Maybe news is like saugsage, one shouldn't see it being made, but the 24-7 availability of news coverage makes it impossible to avoid. I can only fear how it will be handled when it happens here. Somehow, we need to get to at least the level of awareness for a major car accident, or train derailment or plane crash -- we don't stop driving cars, riding trains, or flying in airplanes because these events happen. We hope we aren't involved, but living requires taking at least some minimum level of chance. Until we reach this level with terror, we will be at the mercy of all the miscreants who seek our destruction. We also provide support for the government to continue its perpetual state of war, making things worse instead of better.
